In life, the phrase, “Try, try again,” is applicable to many things:
- Practicing a new sports skill
- Learning how to write in cursive
- Making homemade bread
- Getting hired for an ideal job
Of course, this list consists of only a few situations in which persistence is important. There are many areas of life that require us to try again and again. . .and again.

There are many good and bad things about being in sales. It is a job that mimics a roller coaster – huge deal one day, shot down a million times the next. But sometimes you get to do amazing things and at the same time help the topline.
Recently, one of our portfolio companies, PBwiki, worked with one of their corporate clients in Australia. Being the end of the month, every deal is precious. But beyond the $1000 in bookings, this deal is one of those things that changes the world.
The point person at the corporate client is also leading an effort to rebuild the town of Flowerdale, which was destroyed by the recent bushfires in Australia. PBwiki worked with the contact to get a premium collaboration platform, so fifty of the workers and townspeople could use this tool as they work on the rebuild.
After signing the contract, this is the note PBwiki got from the contact:
Hi:
This could be good publicity for you given the highly emotional nature of the bushfires, deaths, loss of property. There are 1500 people left homeless in Flowerdale, and we are trying to get the place rebuilt as fast as we can while getting a temporary village up.
Anyway, hope all is good. The product is looking great.
Regards
